As the Victim/Witness Director, Mickgael will provide direct services including information and assistance as required by the Virginia Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act. She will ensure that staff provides appropriate explanations of the complexities of the criminal justice system, specialized counseling, social services and referral to such services. Mickgael will also coordinate with the attorneys by accompanying victims to bond hearings, preliminary hearings, trials and sentencings. She assists with victim updates, notification, pulling police reports, misdemeanor appeal notifications, and scheduling of Victim Witness appointments. Additionally, she will provide information and direction in applying for services available, including benefits from the Virginia Victims Fund, program management functions including program development, staff supervision and budget development. Mickgael joined the Commonwealth Attorney's Office in 2007. She was promoted to the position of the Director of the Victim Witness Program in 2022.
