Child Protective Services (CPS)
Protective Services to Children (CPS) includes the receiving of reports of abuse/neglect, determining the validly of these reports, conducting an investigation or family assessment to determine if there is evidence to substantiate a report, identifying service needs for families who are the subject of these reports, and providing services to enhance child safety and prevent further abuse/neglect of children.

Adult Protective Services (APS)
Protective Services to Adults (APS) includes the identification, receipt, and investigation of complaints and reports of abuse, neglect, and exploitation to those who are over the age of 60 or to persons 18 and older who have a physical or mental impairment (incapacitated). Reports are received 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Valid complaints are investigated within 24 hours if it is deemed an emergency or within 5 calendar days for all other reports. The goal of the investigation is to determine if the adult is in need of protective services and if so, to decide which services are needed to prevent further abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation.
