The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at about 2:30pm. On arrival heavy smoke and fire was coming from windows of the home. Attack crews entered by the front door and got a quick knockdown on the blaze. A thorough search was done and it was found that the lone occupant was not at home, but a dog and cat were found and could not be revived due to exposure to heat and smoke. Eighteen fire personnel were on the scene for over two hours doing extinguishment, search and investigating the fire. The department responded with engines from W. Main St., Industrial Ave., Westover Dr. and a ladder truck from Bridge St. A command vehicle and Safety Officer also responded from Bridge St. The Fire Marshal's Office is still investigating the incident and will update this release at a later time. The home suffered major fire damage to half of the structure and smoke and heat damage to the remainder.
