Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a call of smoke in the area of Lanier Ave. and Stokesland Ave. this morning at around 4am. While units were in route to the area the call was upgraded to a confirmed structure fire. First unit on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from all sides and the roof of the house. Attack lines were deployed through the front of the house and a quick knockdown was accomplished. No one was home and there were no injuries of civilians or fire personnel. The Fire Marshal's office is still at the scene at this time investigating the cause. Four engines and one aerial apparatus responded and were on the scene for more than two hours along with 21 Fire Department personnel. The home suffered major damage and cannot be occupied. The occupants will be staying with family.
