Danville Fire Department responded to 208 Withers Road for a reported structure fire at 5:33 pm. While responding, information was given that an occupant may still be inside. Additional units were requested. The first arriving unit advised smoke was visible from the outside. Bystanders on scene advised that someone was inside and gave an approximate location of that victim. A hose line was pulled and the fire was quickly knocked down, proceeded by a search of the entire house. No victim was found inside. Contact was made with the occupant during the incident and it was determined he was out of town. The home suffered moderate fire and smoke damage. The Fire Marshal’s Office conducted an investigation and determined unattended cooking was the cause of the fire. The department responded with a total of 4 Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, 3 support vehicles and 21 personnel. Total time of the call was 1 hour and 58 minutes.
