The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 817 Noble Ave at 5:39pm this evening. Crews arrived on scene at 5:44pm and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the windows of the first floor kitchen of a two story residential house. Crews pulled 2 attack lines and 1 back up line. One was to protect the house next door and a second to do an offensive attack on the fire. The fire was quickly knocked down in the kitchen with some extension to the second floor area. A search of the structure found no occupants inside. The occupant and her child were outside the structure upon our arrival.The house sustained heavy smoke, heat, fire and water damage. The house next door sustained minor heat damage to the siding.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 4 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, one support unit and one fire marshal. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, Danville Electric Department and Danville Water and Gas Department assisted on scene. The cause of the fire was investigated by the fire marshals' office and determined to be unattended cooking. Twenty two fire personnel were on the scene for just over two hours. The American Red Cross will be assisting the two occupants of the house.
