The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 510 Plum Street at 2:47pm this afternoon. Crews arrived on scene at 2:50 pm and found light smoke coming from the windows of the basement of a one story residential house. Crews pulled an attack line and 1 back up line. The fire was quickly knocked down in the basement with some extension to the first floor area. A search of the structure found no occupants inside. The house was not occupied and under renovation at the time of the fire.The house sustained minor smoke, heat and fire damage.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, two support units and two fire marshals. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, Danville Electric Department and Danville Water and Gas Department assisted on scene. The cause of the fire was investigated by the fire marshals' office and determined to be an electrical problem in the basement wiring. Twenty three fire personnel were on the scene for just over one hour. No injuries were reported
