The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 440 Avondale Drive this evening at 5:15pm. Crews arrived at 5:18pm and found light smoke coming from a medium sized two story house. Upon entering the structure, they encountered a small smoldering fire in a trash bag in in the floor of the living room. The bag and its contents were quickly removed from the house. A ventilation fan was set up and an interior search of the structure found no one inside house. The fire was quickly extinguished outside the house and determined to be under control at 5:23. The house sustained minor smoke and fire damage. The house was under renovations and no one was occupying the home at the time of the fire.
The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 engines, a ladder truck, a command unit and one support unit. The Danville Police Department assisted on scene. Sixteen fire personnel were on scene for 1 hour. There were no injuries reported.
The cause of the fire was investigated and determined to be inappropriately discarded construction materials.
