The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a possible structure fire on 3/1/18 at 3:45 pm. E4 arrived four minutes later at 474 Greentree Road Lot 3 to find a single-wide trailer with moderate smoke showing from the roof. After walking around the trailer entry was made through a door. The trailer was full of smoke and there was fire in the kitchen. They also found a small dog waiting to exit the residence. A second dog found refuge in an unaffected part of the trailer and remained there until the occupants arrived. The fire was quickly extinguished. The DFD responded with 3 engines, 1 ladder, and 4 support vehicles. 24 personnel were on scene for a little over an hour and a half.
The Fire Marshal's Office investigated and determined the cause of the fire was unattended cooking. The occupants will stay with family while the trailer is repaired.
