Danville Fire Department responds to structure fire at 415 Apt A Harrison St at about five pm this afternoon. Upon arrival units encountered a female outside with non life threatening burns to her face and hands. The single story duplex apartment had heavy smoke showing from three sides of the structure. Crews entered the structure and began searching for other victims while additional crews attacked the fire. Search crews didn't find any one else in the structure but they did find a dog inside. Crews removed the dog to the outside and began resuscitative efforts but were unable to save the animal. The Danville Life Saving Crew treated and transported the victim to the hospital. The fire damage was extensive in one apartment and occupants of both apartments were displaced. The cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking materials. Three engines, one ladder truck, a safety officer and a Battalion Chief responded. Units were on scene for approximately 2 hours.
