The Danville Fire Department responded to a house fire at 748 Stokes Street on February 15th at 9:33 pm. Apparatus arrived four minutes later and found a small, one-story house with moderate fire and smoke venting from the front of the residence. Smoke and heat damage was noted throughout the entire house. The house is not livable now and the occupant will be staying with a friend. The cause of the fire was discarded smoking materials.
The DFD responded with three engines, one ladder, two chief officers, and one safety officer. 16 fire personnel remained on scene for nearly two hours. The DFD received assistance from the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Utilities, and the Danville Police Department.
