The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 18 Oakland Ave at 03:57 am, on February 17, 2020.
The Danville Fire Department responded initially with three Engines, one Ladder, and two support vehicles with 15 personnel. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Police Department, and Electric Department also responded in support roles to the scene.
Initial fire attack crews found a house fully involved with heavy fire and began a defensive fire attack. Fire conditions did not allow entry to the house for an interior fire attack or searches.
Neighbors advised there were possibly two occupants residing at the home. During fire control, two victims were found deceased inside the structure. The DFD Fire Marshall and Police Department responded and began investigating the incident upon notification. Crews were on the scene for six hours.
The victims were transferred to the State of Virginia Medical Examiner’s office for positive identification. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the DFD Fire Marshal’s office and the Danville Police Department.
