The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 425 Bradley Road this afternoon (April 15, 2020) at 3:45 pm. Crews arrived at 3:48 pm and found a small one story house with a moderate amount of smoke coming from the kitchen windows on the side of the house. All occupants were outside of the house. Engine 5’s crew (from Third Avenue Fire Station) pulled a hand line and entered the house. Engine 1 (from Lynn Street Fire Station) pulled a line for water supply, connected it to the fire hydrant and then pulled a backup line. Ladder 1 (from Lynn Street Fire Station) set up a fan for ventilation, secured the utilities and conducted a primary search of the house. The fire was located in the kitchen and quickly knocked down at 3:53 pm.
The kitchen sustained moderate fire damage with the rest of the house sustaining minor heat and smoke damage.
The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, one command unit, a safety officer and a Fire Marshal. Sixteen fire personnel were on the scene for 1 hour and 27 minutes. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Department, Danville Water and Gas Department and Danville Police Department assisted on scene. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was investigated by the Fire Marshal’s office and determined to be electrical. The outlet shorted and burned the baseboard traveling up the side of the cabinet and the rear of the stove out into the kitchen. The stove was not in use at the time of the fire.
The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
