Danville Fire Department responds to a reported structure fire at 133 Westomoreland Court.
Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 133 Westmoreland Ct at approximately 9:45pm this evening. Upon arrival units found heavy smoke and fire from the side of the structure, mainly the decking area. Units were able to quickly verify that the structure was unoccupied. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire from the outside of the house with no extension to the interior of the structure. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about ten minutes. Once the fire was extinguished crews remained on the scene for approximately an hour checking for hidden fires and assisting the Fire Marshall with an investigation. According to the Fire Marshall the cause of the fire was determined to be discarded smoking materials. Three engines, one ladder truck a safety officer and a Battalion Chief responded. No injuries were reported and damage to the residence was moderate.
