The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 135 Applewood Drive this morning (December 10, 2021) at 2:43 am. Crews arrived at 2:48 am and found a one-story house with heavy fire coming from the car, which was parked under the carport, the carport and roof of the house. Engine 4’s crew (from West Main Street Fire Station) pulled a hand line and extinguished the car fire then moved to the interior portion of the house to prevent the spread of fire to the unburned side of the house. Engine 3’s crew (from Industrial Avenue Fire Station) secured a water supply and pulled a hose line to the carport and continued with fire suppression efforts. Ladder 1’s crew (from Lynn Street Fire Station) shut off the utilities and entered the house to do a primary search for occupants. Engine 6’s crew (from Westover Drive Fire Station) sat up equipment and established a Rapid Intervention Crew.
The fire was located on the carport and in the attic, it was extinguished at 3:19 am and determined to be under control at 3:29 am. The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a command unit, a safety officer and one Fire Marshal. Sixteen fire personnel were on the scene. The Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Department, Danville Water and Gas Department and Danville Police Department assisted on scene. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s office.
