(Update) The Danville Fire Department responded to an early morning fire at 135 Applewood Drive. The initial call came in at 02:43am as a car fire, and immediately updated to a structure fire before the first responding engine could leave the station. With quick notification the call upgraded to a full response with three Engines, one Ladder Company, and two support vehicles. The first arriving Engine Company arrived at 02:48am to find a one-story house with heavy fire coming from the car that was parked under the carport. The roof of the carport was on fire also which extended into the roof of the house. Fire crews worked together to extinguish the car fire, and the house to prevent fire from spreading throughout the structure. The Ladder Company controlled the utilities and entered the structure to conduct a primary search for occupants.
The fire was extinguished at 03:19am and determined to be under control at 0:329am. The structure sustained heavy fire and smoke damage.
The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
The Danville Fire Department was assisted by The Danville Life Saving Crew, The Danville Electric, Water, Gas, and Police Departments.
The Fire Marshal investigated the fire and determined the cause to be an electrical malfunction in the car.
