This morning, 7/17/2023, at 0400 an emergency call was sent to the Danville Fire Department for a house on fire. The reported location was at 29 Milton Avenue. Engines 4,3,2, Ladder 1, Hazmat 2, Battalion 1, and Fire Marshal 2 responded. Upon Engine 4's arrival, they reported fire showing from a one story house and initiated a working fire incident. Engine 4 found fire in the attic and void spaces of the house. During the incident the fire jumped from void space to void space but Danville's best were able to track down and extinguish the elusive flames. The occupant was staying at a nearby neighbors house at the time of the fire. There were no animals or victims found inside of the residence. The house suffered moderate interior damage, mainly in the ceiling and attic areas.
The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, an aerial truck, a safety vehicle, a fire marshal, and a command vehicle. There was a total of 16 fire personnel on scene. The Danville Life Saving Crew responded with an ambulance and a quick response vehicle to provide rehab to firefighters. The Danville Police Department provided scene safety and traffic control. The Danville Utilities secured the electric meter, and gas meter.
The fire department was on scene for two hours and the cause of the fire was found to be caused by unattended cooking. The Danville Fire Department would like to remind it's residence to be mindful when cooking, to always attend food when it is in or on the stove.
