Today, September 17th, 2023, at approximately 1:43PM, the Danville Fire Department responded to a report of a duplex fire at 112 Fuller Street. Engine 5 was first on scene and radioed to incoming units that there was fire coming from the right side of the duplex and they were going to pull a fire hose to extinguish the fire. The fire caused extensive damage to the outside of the house, the attic space, and the interior near the fire origin. The interior of the house had heavy smoke and water damage. The fire was controlled quickly, and there were no injuries reported. The occupants were not at home when the fire began but arrived prior to the fire department. A nearby neighbor called 911 to report the fire, which saved most of the families possessions.
The Danville Fire department would like to remind the citizens of Danville to also ensure recreational fires are fully extinguished prior to leaving them unattended.
The Danville Fire Department responded to the emergency with Engines 5, 1, 2, Safety 1, Battalion 1, and Ladder 1. There were 15 firefighters on scene, 3 Danville Life Saving Crew members, 1 police officer, and the utilities department.
