The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to an outside fire today located at 250 Celotex Drive (Blue Ridge Fiberboard) at 2:44 pm. The Danville Fire Department responded with 3 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Tender, 1 Support Unit, and 1 Command unit with at total of 16 personnel. The first arriving unit discovered a large fire in the outside storage area of the plant where the finished board products are stacked and stored. Fire units established a water supply with the on site hydrants and began the extinguishment process. Plant personnel were also on scene and assisting with the movement of the stacked materials via tow motors. The extinguishment process lasted approximately 6 hours due the amount of material and the need to seperate the board materials. The Danville Fire Department was assisted by the Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville PD, Danville Electric Dept, and Danville Water & Gas. Fire department personnel remained on scene until 10:00 pm. No injuries were reported.
