On Monday, Feb. 17, a Danville Police Department uniformed officer was involved in and wounded in a shooting in the 2100 block of Riverside Drive.
It is the policy of the Danville Police Department that the names of the officers directly involved in uses of force resulting in death or serious injury are only subject to released following a period of 72 hours.
The officer involved in the shooting is Officer Kayla Robinson, a two-year veteran of the Department who serves in the Patrol Division.
Once Officer Robinson returns to work, she will be on administrative assignment while the Virginia State Police investigation remains ongoing.
The Danville Police Department will not be releasing any further information at this time.
