Students from Project Imagine visited Danville Community College (DCC) earlier this week to take part in a college resource day designed to connect them with academic and career pathways.
During the visit, participants learned about DCC’s student support services and explored career pathways in fields such as electrical/electronics technology, industrial maintenance, and welding. They also took part in interactive sessions, including robotics, a CDL simulator, and other hands-on activities showcasing high-demand careers.
Robert David, violence prevention manager for the City of Danville and head of the Project Imagine program, emphasized the impact of the visit. “This experience opens doors for our youth, showing them what’s possible. Project Imagine is about second chances and equipping them for success—whether through education, technical training, or career development.”
DCC Interim President Dr. Cornelius Johnson highlighted the importance of partnerships like Project Imagine in shaping the future of young individuals. “Education changes lives, and with partnerships like Project Imagine, we are committed to making a meaningful impact in our community,” Dr. Johnson said of the visit on Monday. “Special thanks to members of our leadership team and staff who supported today’s visit.”
