Danville Public Library is inviting citizens to participate in a community book reading and discussion of the novel “Americanah” by Chimamanda Ngazi. The book read is sponsored by the Danville Public Library Book Club.
The novel is a story about a young man and young woman from Nigeria who face difficult choices and challenges in the countries they call home. It is also a thought provoking look into modern attitudes toward race in the United States.
The club will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, at the downtown library at 511 Patton St. to discuss the book and weigh in on how the community can begin to work together to make Danville a more tolerant, friendly and welcoming community.
The book is available for purchase from the library at a discounted price. For more information about the event, contact Joseph Zappacosta at zappajw@ci.danville.va.us or by telephone at (434) 799-5195.
