Laura J. Ashworth has joined the Danville Office of Economic Development as marketing and research manager.
Her responsibilities include the design of marketing materials, website and social media management, responding to client inquiries, overseeing research projects, and enterprise zone administration.
Ashworth assumed her responsibilities with the city on Dec. 1. Prior to joining the city, she was employed for six years by Infinity Global as a graphic designer and archiving specialist. Her background also includes freelance photography.
“I am so excited about the opportunity to serve the Danville community,” said Ashworth. “This position will allow me to use my design and research skills to help market the City of Danville.”
Ashworth graduated from Longwood University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in photography.
Telly D. Tucker, director of the Office of Economic Development, said Ashworth has a talent for creative design that engages and captures the imagination of the audience. With a private sector background in design and photography, she brings a unique perspective to the economic development team.
"We are excited to have Laura join our team. Her skill set and experience with design, social media, websites, and data collection fit the job very well and fills a much needed void in our office," Tucker said.
Ashworth moved to the Danville area in 1995 and graduated from Tunstall High School in 2003. She is married to Steven Ashworth, and they have one daughter who is currently in preschool.
