Beginning Monday, May 11, the Patton Street entrance to the Municipal Building and sidewalk in front of the building will be blocked periodically to allow for replacement of the roof on the Municipal Building.
A partial lane restriction also will be in place in front of the building to allow for crane operations and contractor parking. Two-way travel will remain available, but motorists are urged to slow down when approaching this area.
Replacement of the 16,767 square-foot roof was among the list of capital improvement projects approved last year by City Council. The roof was last replaced in 1990.
A.S. Pugh Roofing Co. is the contractor. The company won the contract with a bid of $162,759. The roof material will be a synthetic rubber widely used in low-slope buildings.
The project is scheduled for completion on Aug. 10.
