The Community Holiday Light Show’s popularity grew in its second year, with a 25 percent increase in the number of vehicles traveling through Ballou Park to view the light displays.
More than 1,500 cars and an estimated 6,000 people attended this year’s show, which was drive-through event featuring light displays created by local individuals, families and organizations. The show was held over 15 days, from Dec. 12 through Dec. 27.
The event also featured the Children's Village, which included snacks and beverages and a visit with Santa Claus. More 1,200 photos of children and adults with Santa were taken.
A year ago, the inaugural show brought more than 1,200 vehicles through Ballou Park to view the light displays. The show earned an award from the Virginia Recreation and Park Society for best new special event.
