Parks and Recreation’s Summer Movie Series will continue at 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, in the grass area adjacent the HOME sign downtown at the corner of Main and Union streets, with the American musical comedy-drama fantasy film “The Wizard of Oz.”
The movie tells the story of Dorothy Gale who is swept away to a magical land in a tornado and embarks on a quest to see the Wizard who can help her return home.
The movie is free and will play outside on a 20-foot screen. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. If case of rain, the movie will be shown at Coates Recreation Center.
The Summer Movie Series has been revamped this year and instead of all movies being shown in Ballou Park, they will me scattered throughout the city. Here is the full lineup:
• July 16, Field of Dreams, at Post 325 Stadium (home of the Danville Braves).
• July 29, Frozen, at the Carrington Pavilion.
• August 20, Inside Out, in Ballou Park.
• August 26, To Kill a Mockingbird, on Main Street.
