The Danville Children’s Festival presented by URW Community Federal Credit Union and Danville Parks and Recreation will return to the Carrington Pavilion on Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event will host activities for children of all ages.
“The Children’s Festival has grown into one our favorite special events,” said event planner Lisa Ferguson with Danville Parks and Recreation. “It gets bigger and better every year and we believe this year’s festival tops them all.”
Event Activities
Visit the Moody Crewe Pirates all day for stories, songs and games and even take a pirate photo or two. Pirate School will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Another new activity this year will be Games Gone Mobile Video Game Theater from Raleigh, NC. Known as one of the most advanced mobile game theaters in the Carolinas, this unit can hold up to 24 people on the inside playing video games.
Lowe’s Home Improvement will be on site hosting Build and Grow Clinics throughout the day.
Make a beat with Junk Jams while learning how to make musical instruments from buckets, pots, pans and other reclaimed materials. No drumming experience is necessary.
Join the Great Pumpkin Hunt at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. The hunts will take place throughout the pavilion.
Stuff a scarecrow again this year at the festival. All stuffing materials will be available.
Visit the Colgate Bright Smiles Bus for a dental screening experience guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Bring a bike and join the Danville Police Department, Middle Border Forward and Danville Public Schools for a Children’s Bike Rodeo in the Community Market parking lot. Learn all about bike safety and test your skills on the obstacle course at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. A limited number of bicycles will be provided.
Bring your grandparent for the Grandparent/Grandchild Treasure Hunt. Pick up your treasure map at the information booth at the main entrance and find your treasures throughout the day.
Catch a fish with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
True Race Productions from South Boston will be providing remote control race car experiences throughout the day.
