Due to the dry weather conditions prevalent in the area, the City of Danville Fire Department is instituting a ban on open burning without a permit in the City of Danville until the moisture level increases, eliminating hazardous fire conditions.
When the weather conditions have improved the ban will be lifted and the public will be advised.
Violation of the law is a Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed twenty-five hundred dollars or imprisonment not exceeding 12 months or both.
During these dry conditions, the public is asked to be extremely careful when discarding cigarettes, charcoal, or any other items that could cause a fire.
If you have any questions, please call the Danville Fire Department at 799-5226.
