The City of Danville was among the cities and counties that participated in this year’s ornament collection for the holiday tree at the Executive Mansion in Richmond. The ornament representing Danville featured the “HOME” sign and was donated by the Danville Historical Society.
Earlier this year, Danville city officials celebrated the restoration of the word “Home” from the “Home of Dan River Fabrics” sign that topped the White Mill for decades. The sign is currently in place at the corner of Main and Union streets.
The Danville Historical Society worked with Howe House Limited Editions to turn the design into an ornament.
The holiday tree at the Executive Mansion is located in the main ballroom, and was open for holiday tours. Each locality in Virginia was asked to submit one handcrafted ornament that uniquely represents its community. To be placed on the tree. The “HOME” sign ornament was placed near the top of the tree.
