Weathering permitting, Danville Utilities will begin an electrical line upgrade beginning Monday, Feb. 12, on a portion of Arnett Boulevard and the surrounding area that will require intermittent power outages. The project will take three to four weeks to complete. Intermittent outages will occur between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The portion of Arnett Boulevard that will be affected is from 691 Arnett Blvd. to the intersection of Arnett Boulevard and the 900 block of Glendale Avenue. Other areas to be affected are as follows:
- 100 block of Dalton Street
- 200 block of Ruskin Street
- 100 block of Parrish Road
- 100 Milford Place
- 136 Nor Dan
- 800 block of Melville Avenue
The reconductoring project will include setting new poles and replacing old copper wire to improve system flexibility and service reliability. The intermittent outages are necessary for the safety of the line crews.
Danville Utilities provides natural gas, water, wastewater and telecommunications services in Danville and distributes electricity to approximately 42,000 customer locations in a 500-square-mile service territory covering Danville, the southern third of Pittsylvania County, and small portions of Henry and Halifax counties.
