With graduation ceremonies set for Saturday, May 5, and Saturday, May 12, at Averett University’s North Campus, the Danville Police Department reminds motorists to expect heavy traffic in the area.
Averett University will hold a commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 5, for around 250 graduates. The ceremony will take place at 10 a.m.at the E. Stuart James Grant Athletic & Convocation Center at the North Campus, 707 Mount Cross Road.
Danville Community College’s graduation ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Averett's North Campus. Participating students are expected to arrive by 9 a.m. for lineup. Doors open at 8 a.m.
Heavy traffic along Mount Cross Road, as well as Piedmont Drive, Riverside Drive and Westover Drive, is expected prior to and following each graduation, police said on Friday.
Motorists are advised to slow down and proceed with caution and allow ample time to reach their destination.
