The Patton Street storm water drainage project is coming to a close, with paving scheduled on Monday, July 9, for Patton Street and milled portions of South Union, Market and Lynn streets.
Patton and South Union streets currently remained closed, but will be reopened upon completion of paving.
The project, which began Oct. 4, reroutes storm water drainage from a partially blocked culvert located between South Union and South Market streets into a new storm drain that has been installed along Patton Street in front of the Municipal Building and the James F. Ingram Justice Center (courthouse).
The new drainage system connects to the previously existing system located in South Union Street and in Patton Street, close to Craghead Street.
Haymes Brothers Inc. of Chatham was the contractor for the project.
