The crossover of Riverside Drive at Neal Court, which had been closed since Monday to allow for preparation and installation of base asphalt, reopened this evening.
The work was part of the Riverside Drive reconstruction project, which began last month and is scheduled to be completed by late September or early October, weather permitting.
In the project, the concrete base of two eastbound lanes of Riverside Drive from the bridge over Sandy Creek to Audubon Drive is being removed. A new stone base with asphalt layers will be put in place. The new base and surface will eliminate the current uneven riding surface and reduce maintenance costs.
Eastbound traffic in this area of Riverside Drive is restricted to the far right lane, with a speed limit of 25 mph beginning after the intersection at Mount Cross Road.
