The fifth annual Community Holiday Light Show resumes tonight, with shows each night at Ballou Park through Christmas Day, except for Christmas Eve. The show begins at 6 p.m. and closes at 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
The show began Saturday, Dec. 8, but was canceled the last three nights due to the winter storm.
Last year, 2,560 cars and 18 buses carrying an estimated 11,200 people visited the park for the light show, which is a drive-through event featuring light displays created by local individuals, families, businesses and organizations.
Enter the park at its Park Avenue entrance. Volunteer groups will be there to direct traffic through the park. The cost is $7 per car and $15 for buses and 15-passenger vans. On Monday, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, and Tuesday, Dec. 11 and Dec. 18, admission will be discounted. Prices will be $5/vehicle and $10/mini buses and 15 passenger vans.
The event also includes the Children's Village, which is included in the price of admission, and will be open until 9 p.m. through Dec. 23. Holiday crats, hot chocolate and free photos with Santa Claus are part of the village.
During the event, the public will be given the opportunity to vote on their favorite display. A donation will be made to the winner’s choice of a non-profit organization.
A portion of the proceeds also will be donated to the working volunteer groups.
