City Council will meet Tuesday, Feb. 19, in a business session at 7 p.m., followed by a work session. Both sessions are open to the public.
The business session will be held in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the Municipal Building, which is located at 427 Patton St.
The work session will be held on the same floor, but across the hall in the Council Conference Room. In work sessions, Council reviews non-routine matters that will be voted upon in future business meetings.
River City TV, the city’s government access channel, will air the business session. Watch it live on cable (Comcast channel 10 and Gamewood channel 122) or streaming on the River City TV Facebook page.
During the business session, City Council is scheduled to vote on a grant agreement from the Virginia Department of Aviation to promote aviation awareness at the Danville Regional Airport. The grant would support an Airport Open House and Young Eagles Rally at the Danville Regional Airport.
The event would be scheduled for Saturday, June 22, with a rain date planned for the following Saturday on June 29.
City Council also is scheduled to vote on several other matters Tuesday night:
- designation of the Danville Neighborhood Development Corp. as the official land bank entity for Danville.
- directing the city manager to negotiate the establishment of a regional industrial facility authority at Virginia International Raceway.
- updates to the emergency operations plan.
- appointments to the Airport Commission, Building Code Board of Appeals, Danville Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Danville Pittsylvania Community Services Board, and the Danville Community Policy and Management Team.
During the work session, the City Council will review financial reports and hear a presentation on regulations on bed and breakfast establishments.
