The Fire Department has lifted the ban on open burning in the city. The ban had been in place since Sept. 24 due to the dry weather conditions prevalent in the area.
Recent rainfall has lessened the hazardous fire conditions.
The burning of leaves and tree, yard, and garden trimmings are permitted. The burning must not be less than 300 feet from the neighboring property unless those owners have given their permission.
Local contractors are to obtain burning permits for open burning for the disposal of land clearing material.
