The City of Danville announced today that residents with personal property tax bills a year or more overdue have until March 31 to pay in full. Accounts that remain unpaid after March 31 will be submitted to an external collection agency.
Personal property taxes are those paid on vehicles. Finance Director Michael Adkins said more than $750,000 is currently delinquent by a year or more.
“Delinquent accounts submitted to the collection agency will incur additional costs,” Adkins said Wednesday. “We urge customers to avoid these costs by using this time to settle their delinquent accounts.”
The City provides several options for tax bill payment:
- Online — go to http://danvilleva.gov/payments.
- By phone — call (844) 680-6904.
- By mail — send to the City of Danville, Division of Customer Accounts, P.O. Box 3308, Danville, VA 24543.
- In-person — visit the Division of Customer Accounts office, which is located in the Charles H. Harris Financial Service Center at 311 Memorial Drive.
Payment at the Customer Accounts office can be made by cash, money order, or cashier’s check. Credit cards and debit cards can be used to make payments online or by phone, but they cannot be used to make payments at the Customer Accounts office.
When making payment online, an added processing fee is charged because a third-party vendor provides this service. This fee goes to the vendor, and not the city, for processing the payment.
