(UPDATE) Danville remains under a river flood warning. The Dan River has remained in the moderate flood stage today. The river is now projected to crest overnight at 27.4 feet, which would be the highest crest since Tropical Storm Michael in October of 2018 and the third-highest crest since 1996.
Here is the situation report as of 4:45 p.m.:
- At 4:01 p.m., the Dan River level was at 26.55 feet. The moderate flood stage is 26 feet.
- The projected river crest has fallen slightly. The river is currently projected to crest overnight at 27.4 feet. Earlier today, the projected crest was 28.1 feet.
- River Street will remain closed until Saturday. Traffic is being detoured onto North Main Street and Old Halifax Road.
- Trade Street will remain closed until Saturday.
- Goodyear Boulevard is closed at two locations – Pumpkin Creek and at the Airgas store. These sections will remain closed until the floodwater recedes.
- Memorial Drive between Park Avenue and Primrose Place has been reopened.
- A Public Works crew will be on duty overnight to monitor street conditions. Crews will report for duty on Saturday to clean up mud from streets as floodwater recedes.
- The Emergency Communications Center received 10 weather-related calls today, including two motor vehicle crashes with no injuries, three fallen trees, and a fuel spill on River Street.
- Danville Utilities reported no major outages today. Crews will be on standby overnight.
- Danville remains under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. today. Winds have been sustained today at 15 to 25 mph, with a peak gust of 38 mph.

Danville remains under a river flood warning. The Dan River rose above the moderate flood stage overnight. The river is now projected to crest later today at 28.1 feet, which would be the highest crest since Tropical Storm Michael in October of 2018 and the third-highest crest since 1996.
Here is the situation report as of 9:45 a.m.:
- River Street is closed. Traffic is being detoured onto North Main Street and Old Halifax Road. The street was closed at 11:39 p.m. Thursday and will remain closed until the floodwater recedes to the point that water pumps can be used again.
- Sections of Trade Street and Goodyear Boulevard are closed. The Trade Street section was closed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. These sections will remain closed until the floodwater recedes.
- Memorial Drive between Park Avenue and Primrose Place remains closed to all traffic due to a mudslide. This section will remain closed until barriers can be set up to prevent any further mudslide onto the roadway.
- Public Works crews monitored street conditions overnight. In addition to street closures, crews responded to several traffic signal issues and calls about blocked drains and trees in the roadway.
- Police report that vehicle traffic was light overnight.
- The Emergency Communications Center received 13 weather-related calls overnight, including reports of flooding and high water on streets and parking lots, trees down, and a motor vehicle crash. At 1:51 a.m., a motor vehicle crash was reported on Westover Drive. In that incident, a vehicle hit a pole. At 6:57 a.m., a report was received of a tree falling on a moving vehicle on Taylor Street. No injuries were reported in that incident.
- Danville Utilities responded to two major outages last night. The first outage occurred when a tree fell over a power line at 6:55 p.m. The outage left about 310 customers in the Brosville area without power until 9:12 p.m. The second outage occurred around 11 p.m. and resulted from a burned pole on Primrose Place. The wire, cross-arm and pole were burned likely due to contact from trees. The outage was isolated and service restored in about 15 minutes. The pole will be replaced today.
- Danville is under a wind advisory until 6 p.m. today. Winds will be sustained at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. Fallen trees are likely. Public Works and Utilities crews are on alert and are prepared to respond as needed.
