The Virginia Department of Elections has received from the appropriate authority notice requesting a primary election to be held on Tuesday, June 9.
The Republican Party has called for a primary election to nominate a candidate for U. S. Senate. The Democratic Party has called for a primary election to choose a candidate for the 5th District, U. S. House of Representatives.
Voters will only be able to vote in one of the primaries. Voters will be asked which primary they choose to vote in.
The deadline to register to vote in the primary or to update an existing registration is May 18. The deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is 5 p.m. on June 2.
The General Election will be held Nov. 3. Voters in Virginia will elect one member to the U.S. Senate in the election. Mark Warner (D) holds the seat. Also, voters in the 5th District will elect one member to the U.S. House. Denver Riggleman (R) holds the seat.
