Mayor Alonzo Jones issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement from the Pittsylvania-Danville Health District of its first case of COVID-19 illness in a resident of the district.
Jones said he was saddened, but not surprised when he heard the news. “We knew it was just a matter of time before there would be a confirmed case in our area,” Jones said. “This brings home the importance of practicing social distancing, frequent hand washing, and disinfecting high traffic areas.”
Jones encouraged citizens to go to the Centers for Disease Control website for information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
It provides guidance on what people should be doing to protect themselves and what to do if you are sick.
