Public Works crews have reopened all streets in the city following cleanup activities yesterday and today. The final streets to be reopened were River Street and Trade Street.
Crews began clearing the debris and mud left by floodwaters on River Street at 5 a.m. today. The street was reopened at noon.
Crews then began cleaning up Trade Street and were able to reopen it at 2:30 p.m.
River Street and Trade Street were the last two streets that saw floodwaters recede. Yesterday, crews were able to clean and reopen sections of Goodyear Boulevard, Park Avenue and Memorial Drive.
The Dan River crested at 27.57 feet at 12:16 a.m. Saturday. That level is the third-highest crest in nearly 24 years, slightly eclipsing the peak of 27.22 feet during the flood event in February of this year.
