(3 P.M. UPDATE:) The winter storm warning for Danville has been cancelled. Watch for patchy fog. This fog along with any lingering
moisture and slush on streets and sidewalks will freeze overnight as temperatures hover around freezing. This may result in slick
spots or patchy black ice. Use caution while driving.
SUNDAY MORNING POST
Here is the situation report at 8 a.m.: The Public Works Department reports that main thoroughfares are wet, with slush in areas. Residential streets have an ice buildup from the sleet and freezing rain that fell overnight. The city received a burst of snow at 10 p.m. Saturday night that lasted for about an hour and covered the ground with snow. At around 4:30 a.m. today, a mix of sleet and freezing rain began to fall. Public Works crews began spreading salt on the main thoroughfares. The current precipitation is mostly rain. Crews will continue to monitor street conditions and place additional salt or sand as needed. The Police Department has received reports of two single-vehicle vehicle accidents that were weather-related. Both accidents resulted in minor damage. There are no power outages at this time. .
