Danville Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce, that in partnership with the Danville Running Club, the Danville Riverwalk Trailhead Stretching Stations Project is officially complete. The project was funded through a Make More Happen Grant by the Danville Regional Foundation in the amount of $14,718.23.
“Stretching is a key, but often overlooked, aspect of individual health and fitness,” said Mark Holland, Coordinator of Special Projects for the Danville Running and Fitness Club. “The goal of this project is to provide pre- and post-exercise stretching areas for Danville Riverwalk users.”
The stations are located at some of the major Riverwalk trailheads, including:
- Anglers Park
- Stinson Drive
- Dan Daniel Park
- Crossing at the Dan
- Main Street Plaza
- YMCA
- Biscuitville
- Sandy Creek Park
- Park Avenue Bridge
“The Danville Riverwalk Trailhead Stretching Stations Project has provided yet another benefit to our community, allowing Riverwalk users to positively contribute to their overall health and wellness,” said Bill Sgrinia, Director of Danville Parks and Recreation. “We are so happy to have had them installed.”
Future signage plans for the stretching stations are being developed, and a decal with a QR Code link to stretching examples will be attached to the stretching stations in the coming weeks.
