A long-standing tradition, the Danville Farmers’ Market will open for the season on Saturday, May 1, with vendors selling goods each Saturday through October at the Community Market on Craghead Street.
The market’s hours are 7:30 a.m. to noon. Vendors and patrons must follow all health and safety guidelines.
“We are proud to be able to offer this service that is a staple to downtown Danville as well as local vendors and shoppers in the community,” said Parks and Recreation Department Director Bill Sgrinia. “We do not take safety precautions and health concerns lightly, so the market will be modified from its normal setup in order to meet the recommended guidelines. It’s a change for all of us, we appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we continue to develop and manage a new way to offer this service.”
While visiting the market the following regulations are in place:
- As always, no pets allowed except service animals.
- Do not visit the market if you are sick.
- Maintain six feet of space between you and other shoppers.
- Per the governor's order, facemasks are recommended.
The opening day will be held in conjunction with the Make Danville Shine Home Expo.
In July and August, the market also will be open on Wednesday afternoons.
