Beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 8, all crossovers on U.S. 29 between Blairs Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Dry Fork Road will be closed entirely or manned by Virginia State Police. This will continue through Monday, Sept. 13.
This traffic plan will accommodate the Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Pittsylvania County (see news release: https://tinyurl.com/jvkv8mps). More than 35,000 people are expected to attend daily from Sept. 9-12. Approximately 20,000 of those will be camping and remain on site for the entire festival. Most campers will arrive Wednesday, Sept. 8, and leave Monday, Sept. 13.
Motorists should be aware of the significant flow of traffic coming into the area during the festival and watch out for updated traffic patterns. Residents and those who typically drive through this area should consider alternate routes, if possible.
