The Danville Police Department will be undergoing a virtual on-site assessment to achieve accreditation by verifying it meets professional standards through The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc (CALEA) on Monday and Tuesday, December 13 and 14, 2021. The final stages of the assessment process come after more than two years of preparation and review for compliance with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.
The Danville Police Department would like to invite citizens, community partners, as well as our media partners to participate in the assessment process by attending and providing comments to the assessment team in a public information session on Monday, December 13, 2021 at 5:00 PM. The session will be conducted in the Danville City Council Chambers located on the fourth floor of the Municipal Building at 427 Patton Street Danville, Virginia 24541.
We would ask that our community partners and media members please share this exciting event with your followers as the Danville Police Department reaches the final stages of becoming accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.
The official public notice of the Danville Police Department assessment process, which also provides instructions on ways to call in to the assessors or submit written comments, is attached.
