The Danville Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) will hold a public meeting from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 2, at the I.W. Taylor Virtual Academy, 825 Piney Forest Road, to gather input on recommended safety enhancements along the Piney Forest Road corridor.
Proposed traffic, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit improvements have been developed as part of a planning study for Piney Forest Road. The study area is a 2.6-mile corridor from Holt Garrison Parkway (vicinity of Coleman Marketplace) to Franklin Turnpike.
The purpose of the study is to identify strategies and improvements to address existing and future traffic congestion, safety concerns, and the ability to more comfortably walk, bicycle, and use transit in the corridor.
The study is being conducted by the West Piedmont Planning District Commission in partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation. EPR is providing engineering and planning assistance on the project.
