The Danville Office of Economic Development & Tourism, the official destination marketing organization for the city of Danville and Pittsylvania County, has received more than 1,500 responses to the tourism branding survey announced in mid-June. However, to hear from as many interested parties as possible, the survey deadline has been extended. The survey will now remain open until midnight on Sunday, July 31.
To thank participants, every citizen, 18 and older, who responds to the survey and provides their contact information (optional) will be entered into a raffle to win one of four sets of four-piece Yeti Drinkware courtesy of the Danville Visitors Center.
“The initial response to the survey has been great,” Tourism Manager Lisa Meriwether said. “I think everyone is really excited about what’s happening in our area and about having an opportunity to take our community marketing up a level. But we really want to do everything we possibly can to make sure we are representing as many voices and perspectives in this process as possible. Marketing is all about storytelling, and rich, authentic stories come from lived experiences. No one knows this place better than the folks who call this region home.”
The survey can be taken online at dcptourismsurvey.com, or in person at any local library location. The survey is approximately 50 questions and takes most people about 15 minutes to complete.
“It’s really exciting to see how many people have already started engaging in the process of shaping our future,” said Kattie Saunders, project manager for the Pittsylvania County Economic Development Department. “We have so many important economic opportunities coming up related to tourism, and by working together as a region, and partnering with our broad citizen base to ensure we get our positioning right, I know our future marketing and outreach efforts will be tremendously successful.”
The results of this survey and several other community outreach initiatives will be shared back with the community a few weeks after the survey closes. The dates and times of these public meeting events will be announced later this summer.
