UPDATED: On Thursday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m., the Police Department will be in the southeast sector of the city on Seeland Road. Officers with the Police community engagement team will gather at the intersection of Seeland Road and Jones Xing.
The officers assigned to this unit focus on several areas: crime prevention, community education, youth and community engagement, and blight and nuisance abatement. The focus of community engagement walks is to build public trust and develop positive relationships between officers and community members. Officers will meet and greet the residents, and actively listen to citizens issues and be problem solvers within the community.
If citizens have any questions regarding the community engagement walk, then contact Sergeant Ferguson, 434-797-8898 ext. 1.
The walk originally was scheduled to be held on Monday, Aug. 15.
