The Danville Police Department is proud to introduce One Community, a new product that includes programming and engagement through the services division. It is an all-encompassing product that brings together city residents, visitors, workers, businesses, organizations and partners.
Just as Danville could not be one complete city without the use of bridges to access homes, goods and services, One Community or, “The O.C.” bridges the gap between community engagement, youth engagement and programs to enhance the relationships between residents and police. The O.C. also encourages businesses, non-profits and religious organizations to become involved as well to enhance valuable connections between business owners, leaders and stakeholders.
Chief Scott Booth began in 2018 with a vision that would become the Danville model of policing and included the completion of One Community Way. The police department is not only for law enforcement, but also for the community’s use as well.
The relationships grown through The O.C. will enhance services offered to the community by allowing the department to develop and cultivate new connections while also allowing others to bring in the department for support and further partnership opportunities.
How it Works
Programming in the past was pushed out through different channels within the department. For example, Stop, Pop, & Lock It strives to inform community members through the Community Engagement about vehicle safety and the importance of properly securing valuables. Now, that program will be referred to as, “Stop, Pop, & Lock It brought to you by One Community.”
Next Steps
Over the course of the next several months, residents can expect to see a soft rollout of The O.C. including a brand new logo and fonts. Over time, businesses and organizations will have an opportunity to be recognized as a part of the O.C.
